I'll keep the biography bit short and sweet as there's much more in depth history in the influences section.
Sereniti was formed in 1991 as a collaboration between Dani Cook and Shaun Medd. Originally called "The 16th Bit" and "Mode 202" it's main focus was to perform Depeche Mode songs to the small but astute following that they had in this country. Another keyboard player was added to the lineup the same year and a couple of gigs were performed. During this time Dani was still actively writing material of his own and, added to that, the material he had written in previous bands/on his own, there was quite a large catalogue.
At the beginning of 1993 Dani moved to Scarborough and so the band was put on hold, although the keyboard player had been let go, Shaun and Dani still kept in touch, a partnership which lead to the writing of "Moon"
So in 1994 they decided to go into the studio and record "Moon", it took one day to complete and and half a day to mix. The DAT tape was quickly distributed to the local radio stations, unfortunately they never found out if they were played. (no one listened to the radio). The DAT was never sent to any record companies because of Dani's belief that the time still wasn't right.
Moon became a much loved song within the small group of fans that had grown up with the band and many more equally good songs followed. When Dani moved back to Hull midway through 1994 he decided to concentrate on solo writing, with Shaun helping out on the production/recording side.
And that's how it's stayed to this very day, many songs later, a little older, a little wiser, other band members have come and gone but Dani and Shaun still make up an inimitable partnership and will do so for a while yet.
(or at least until Dani gets a deal and suddenly forgets all about Shaun..........lol)
In 1999 some of the songs were released onto the internet to some critical acclaim, this is the second incarnation of the web site (and a much improved one)
In January 2000 after 13 years of waiting the first record companied were contacted, CD's were requested and at this moment in time a total of 9 songs are being put together for the demo. A local designer is helping them with the CD sleeve and all being well the CD's should be sent in march.
The fate of sereniti is now in the hands of the people who make the decisions about what they want you to hear. So if you download any songs and you like them, drop an e-mail to any labels you know and give them the site address. Maybe one day you can sit there and say you helped sereniti get to were they are today.......
Cheers.
Just recently a contact has been made with a very accomplished guitarist which may bear some fruit in the near future.
Here's hoping.............
